Educational Resources
Elementary, middle, and high school, college, and university teachers and non-formal educators can teach their students the value of native trees and engage them in meaningful classroom and community projects by involving them in Growing Native. We have games, quizzes and other participatory activities to help your students learn about the value of trees in our world.
In addition to the education resources listed below, Boy Scout troop leaders have additional materials. Click here

The Growing Native Education Guide provides educators with practical, user-friendly lessons and stewardship activities that can be easily integrated into their existing curricula or programs.
Pounds Per Kids Contest
In mid February, Growing Native Director
Colleen Langan presented
certificates and
trophy cups filled with seeds to
the winners of the Pounds per Kids contest. Rock Creek Forest
Elementary School won the contest with 1,288 pounds of seeds
collected; Chevy Chase Elementary School came in
second place with 912 pounds. The contest-- a seed collection
contest between seven Montgomery County (MD) schools--was the
brainchild of Pamela Fields and family.
Potomac Conservancy thanks
the participating schools for making this contest a success.
The contest owes its success to the efforts of Pamela Fields
for managing the project. Mrs. Fields was recognized
as the Growing Native Volunteer of the Year for her hard work.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this
fun project!
